Davidson, NC (Sports Network) - Stephen Curry erupted for 36 points on 12-of-18 shooting from the floor, as the Davidson Wildcats knocked off Southern Conference-foe Elon, 74-64, at Belk Arena.
Curry also collected eight rebounds and four steals for the Wildcats (16-6, 14-0 SoCon), who run their regular season conference win streak to 24 games. Jason Richards chipped in with 16 points, while Andrew Lovedale pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.
Ola Atoyebi came off the bench to score 14 points, leading four Phoenix (7-15, 5-9) players in double figures. Brett James (11 rebounds) and Adam Constantine (nine rebounds) each scored 13, while TJ Douglas finished with 12 points in a losing effort.
Elon was held to 9-of-28 shooting (32.1 percent) from the floor in the first half, while the Wildcats went a perfect 9-of-9 from the foul line to grab a 31-26 halftime lead.
The Phoenix found some success from the perimeter in the second stanza (7- of-15), but they shot just 38.7 percent from the floor and could not close the gap.
The Wildcats were stingy on defense, finishing with nine steals and seven blocked shots. In addition, they shot an efficient 21-of-24 from the foul line, showcasing why they are the team to beat in the conference.
