NCAA Game Summary - Northwestern at Indiana

Final Score: Northwestern 63 - Indiana 75

Bloomington, IN (Sports Network) - Eric Gordon scored 29 points on 8-of-14 shooting as 11th-ranked Indiana disposed of Northwestern, 75-63, at Assembly Hall.

D.J. White added 26 points and 13 boards for the Hoosiers (18-3, 7-1 Big Ten), who snapped a two-game skid and beat Northwestern for the 35th consecutive time in Bloomington. Armon Bassett chipped in with seven points and six assists.

"We just had the game plan of being aggressive on the offensive boards," White said. "We haven't been doing that. We just wanted to attack, myself and Tone (Jamarcus Ellis). Jamarcus did a good job attacking them when the guards took the shots and getting the offensive rebounds."

Craig Moore had 17 points and five assists for the Wildcats (7-12, 0-8), who have dropped four of their past five games. Jeremy Nash and Kevin Coble both netted 12 points.

"We had six turnovers in the first half and I think we had three walks and that bothered me," Northwestern coach Bill Carmody said. "If we are going to play with this team, and we did, you can't have missed opportunities with the lay-ups we missed and some of the turnovers in the first half with the three walks. I don't know if they were really forced, maybe they were and they had something to do with it. But I think we have to avoid those things and really cherish the ball."

Indiana had trouble shaking the lightly-regarded Wildcats. The Hoosiers entered the final frame with a precarious three-point edge and things remained tight in the opening minutes. Coble's layup, with 11:44 left in the game, drew Northwestern to within a bucket, 52-50.

Indiana finally responded with some great defense and put things away with a 14-2 run over next several minutes. Gordon highlighted the run with a layup and a three before finishing it by making 1-of-2 from the charity stripe to make it a 14-point game, 66-52, with just 4:32 on the clock.

Northwestern never got closer than 10 points the rest of the way.

The Hoosiers led by as many as eight points a number of times in the first half. Gordon dropped in a three with 2:03 left in the frame to make it a 38-30 game.

But, Northwestern recovered to score seven of the game's next nine points to make it a one-possession game at intermission, 40-37.
