Muncie, IN (Sports Network) - Kenny Hayes scored 27 points to lead the Miami- Ohio RedHawks to a 66-54 win over the Ball State Cardinals in Mid-American Conference action at Worthen Arena.
The RedHawks (10-10,4-4 MAC) also received 15 points from Michael Bramos, while Tim Pollitz and Eric Pollitz each added 10 points in the victory.
The Cardinals (3-17, 2-6) were paced by Anthony Newell who tallied 17 points and eight rebounds in the loss. Melvin Goins added 15 points for Ball State, while Rashaun McLemore chipped in with 11 points off the bench.
Miami came out of the gates on fire, shooting 54.2 percent from the field in the first half, to take a 32-26 lead at the break.
The RedHawks stayed sharp in the second stanza, shooting 14-of-18 from the free throw line, to secure the 12-point victory.
Three-point shooting was the difference in this contest, as the RedHawks outscored Ball State 24-9 from three-point range.
Miami has now won four of its last five contest.
