Denton, TX (Sports Network) - Collin Dennis scored 21 points to lead the North Texas Mean Green to a 70-68 victory over the South Alabama Jaguars in a Sun Belt Conference matchup.
Josh White added 18 points for North Texas (13-7, 4-5 SBC), which defeated the Jaguars for the first time in the last seven meetings.
Demetric Bennett racked up 22 points in the loss for South Alabama (17-4, 9-1), which had its 13-game winning streak halted. Brandon Davis added 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Jaguars, while Daon Merritt also had 16 points.
South Alabama led by as many as 10 points in the first half and owned a 36-30 advantage at intermission.
The teams traded baskets for much of the second half, and the score was deadlocked at 63-63 with just over three minutes remaining. The biggest play in the closing minutes was a three-pointer by Dennis with 1:37 left.
North Texas won despite being outrebounded by a 40-26 margin.
