New Rochelle, NY (Sports Network) - Alex Franklin scored a game-high 17 points and snared five rebounds, as the Siena Saints downed the Iona Gaels, 64-51, in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at the Hynes Athletics Center.
Kenny Hasbrouck turned in 13 points for the Saints (13-7, 8-2 MAAC), although he went just 3-of-14 from the floor. Edwin Ubiles tallied 12 points and Josh Duell had 11, as Siena won for the fifth time in six games.
Devon Clarke was the only player to reach double figures for Iona (7-15, 3-7), finishing with 14 points and eight rebounds. The Gaels have now dropped three consecutive games.
Siena connected on just 31.8 percent of its field goal tries in the opening period and Iona held a 30-26 lead at the half.
In the second stanza, the Saints shot a much better 54.5 percent from the floor, as they came away with the 13-point victory.
Siena forced the Gaels into 23 turnovers and it was able to score 29 points off those miscues.
