Lawrence, KS (Sports Network) - Darrell Arthur had 18 points and seven rebounds as second-ranked Kansas cruised to an 84-49 win over Nebraska at Allen Fieldhouse.
Brandon Rush added 17 points and eight rebounds while Darnell Jackson donated 13 points and eight boards for the Jayhawks (20-0, 5-0 Big 12), who have won 28 straight regular season games.
"We didn't get off to unbelievable start offensively, but we did defensively," said Kansas coach Bill Self. "I thought we played well. Second half -- very sloppy. A lot of substitutions and different lineups, but I though we were very sloppy in the second half, and I didn't expect that. Other than the turnovers, I thought in the second half, we played well on both ends."
Steve Harley had 16 points while Chris Balham added six points and eight boards for the Cornhuskers (11-6, 0-4), who have dropped their last four games.
"They are just a much, much better basketball team than we are," said Nebraska coach Doc Sadler. "We almost have to play a perfect basketball game to beat them and we didn't do that. You have to give them credit. They make shots and they make it hard on you. It is what it is. We are sitting at 0-4. We wish we had at least one win but we don't. This team has always worked hard and I expect them to continue that."
The game was close early in the first half, but the Jayhawks started to take control of the game with a 9-0 burst and held a 17-5 lead after Sherron Collins put in a layup with a bit over 12 minutes to play.
After a Harley layup with under eight minutes to play, Nebraska didn't make a basket from the field until the final moments of the half as Kansas closed with a 19-4 run and took a 44-15 lead into the locker room.
Kansas built its lead to 35 points early in the second half, but the Cornhuskers scored seven straight points, capped by a pair of free throws from Balham to make it a 57-29 game with a bit over 14 minutes to play.
The Jayhawks, though, kept the game under their control for the remainder as they led by as many as 35 points on the way to victory.
