Providence, RI (Sports Network) - Brian Laing recorded a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds, as the Seton Hall Pirates notched an 88-75 road win over the Providence Friars in Big East Conference action at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
Laing was complemented by Jamar Nutter, who tallied 19 points for the Pirates (13-6, 3-3 Big East). Larry Davis scored 13 points off the bench, while Eugene Harvey finished with 10.
Weyinmi Efejuku paced Providence (12-6, 3-3) with a game-high 23 points. Jeff Xavier added 16 points, while Brian McKenzie scored 11, and Jonathan Kale finished with 10.
Both teams shot 12-of-28 from the floor in the first half, though it was Providence taking a slim 38-37 lead into the break.
However, Seton Hall came alive in the second stanza, shooting 57.1 percent from the floor and knocking down 15-of-17 free throws en route to the double-digit victory.
Seton Hall shot 24-of-27 from the foul line, while the Friars knocked down just 23-of-35 free throws in the game.
