Greenville, SC (Sports Network) - In Southern Conference action at Timmons Arena, the Appalachian State Mountaineers easily took care of the Furman Paladins, 84-66, behind Jeremy Clayton's 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Clayton drained a perfect 8-for-8 from the field and even dished out six assists for ASU's (12-6, 7-2 SoCon) seventh straight victory. Donte Minter tallied 19 points, while Donald Sims recorded a solid 14-point, eight-rebound effort.
Furman (3-16, 2-8) has now lost five of its last six games despite having three players finish in double figures. Connor Nolte came off the bench to pace the Paladins with 15 points and eight boards, while Justin Dehm and Jordan Miller contributed 14 and 10 points, respectively.
In the first half, Appalachian State connected on 53.6 percent from the field to take a 46-32 lead at the break.
The Paladins hit six three-pointers in the second half, but the Mountaineers shot an even better 60.9 percent from the field to secure the 18-point win.
While the Mountaineers only held a three-rebound edge in the game, ASU outscored Furman, 40-18 in the paint.
