Kent, OH (Sports Network) - Mike Scott and Chris Singletary scored 18 points apiece to lead the Kent State Golden Flashes to a 75-69 victory over the Akron Zips in Mid-American Conference action.
Al Fisher posted 16 points for Kent State (15-4, 4-1 MAC), which got 12 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks from Haminn Quaintance.
Nick Dials had 22 points and seven assists in the loss for Akron (14-4, 4-1). Jeremiah Wood tallied 14 points for the Zips, who got 10 points from Brett McKnight.
Akron exploded out to a 35-25 lead at intermission after shooting 52.2 percent from the floor in the first half, including a 7-of-13 effort from three-point range.
Kent State dominated the contest at both ends of the court in the second half, enabling the club to register the come-from-behind victory. The Golden Flashes connected on 68.4 percent of their field goal attempts over the final 20 minutes while limiting the Zips to 37.9 percent efficiency.
A 24-11 edge in points from the foul line and 23 forced turnovers were key to the win for the Golden Flashes.
Kent State is 11-0 at home this season and has won 20 of its last 21 games at the M.A.C. Center.
