Clemson, SC (Sports Network) - K.C. Rivers notched a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds, and the Clemson Tigers outlasted the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 80-75, in overtime of an ACC contest at Littlejohn Coliseum.
Rivers also recorded five steals for the Tigers (15-4, 3-2 ACC), who won for the third time in their last four games. Terrence Oglesby tallied 13 points in the win, while Cliff Hammonds and Sam Perry each chipped in with 10 points.
Ishmael Smith paced Wake Forest (12-6, 2-3) in defeat with 19 points and seven assists, although he also accounted for a team-high eight turnovers. James Johnson and L.D. Williams netted 14 points apiece, as the Deacons dropped their ninth ACC road game in a row.
Wake Forest made good on 43.3 percent of its attempts from the floor in the opening frame, taking a 32-31 lead at the break.
In the second half, Smith tied the score at 65-65 on a three-pointer with 49 seconds left and neither team was able to capitalize on its opportunities in the closing moments, as the game went into overtime.
Clemson hit on 5-of-6 free throws and it closed out overtime with a 7-2 spurt, as it escaped with the five-point victory.
Both teams had trouble hanging onto the ball in this one, as the Tigers committed 20 turnovers and the Deacons 22.
