NCAA Game Summary - Drake at Creighton

Final Score: Drake 68 - Creighton 60

Omaha, NE (Sports Network) - Klayton Korver scored 14 points, and Jonathan Cox had all five of his points in overtime, as 22nd-ranked Drake slipped by Creighton, 68-60, at Qwest Center Omaha.

Adam Emmenecker finished with 12 points, seven assists, and four steals for Drake (17-1, 8-0 MVC). The Bulldogs extended their school-record winning streak to 16.

"This is one of the toughest places to play and it's a place we haven't had too much success," Emmenecker said. "Creighton came out and played well tonight, and it took a great effort from us to even get a chance to win in the end. We were lucky to come out with a win tonight."

Dane Watts had 13 points and eight rebounds, while Cavel Witter finished with 12 points for Creighton (14-4, 5-3), which had a five-game winning streak snapped.

"We are disappointed. We didn't throw the ball inside and didn't do a good job of looking in there," Creighton coach Dana Altman said. "We have to be a better rebounding team. In the second half, they got those second-chance points that eventually were the difference in the game. We had our opportunity, but just weren't tough enough to finish it. That's a tough loss."

More than two minutes had passed in the extra session before Josh Young drained a three pointer to put Drake ahead. After Nick Bahe missed a three for the Bluejays, Leonard Houston made a fastbreak layup to give the Bulldogs a 59-54 lead with a little over two minutes left.

That was the decisive edge that Drake needed. The Jays kept pace, and with 51 seconds on the clock, Kaleb Korver -- Klayton's brother -- made a three to bring his team within a basket, at 61-59.

But that was as close Creighton came, as Drake made 7-of-8 free throws in the final minute.

Overall, the Bulldogs made 9-of-10 from the line in overtime, and were 2-of-3 from the field. Meanwhile, the Jays were 1-of-10 from the field and 3-of-4 from the line.

The home team controlled the first half, and had a seven-point lead with just under five minutes on the clock. Witter drained a three to put Creighton ahead 22-15, and the Jays held on to take a 30-24 lead into the break.

After P'Allen Stinnett opened the second half with a layup to put Creighton up eight, Drake went on a 12-point tear. Five different players scored, and Brent Heemskerk finished it with a layup to give the Bulldogs a 36-32 edge a little more than six minutes in.

From there the teams swapped leads, and with 37 seconds left, Chad Millard made 1-of-2 free throws to put Creighton ahead 54-52. But with 23 seconds on the clock, Houston tied the game with a jumper, and Millard missed a three to win at the buzzer, sending the game to overtime.
