Winston-Salem, NC (Sports Network) - Freshman James Johnson scored a career- high 26 points, including 21 in the second half, to lead the Wake Forest Demon Deacons to a 74-57 victory over the Florida State Seminoles in ACC action.
Jeff Teague tallied 12 points for Wake Forest (12-5, 2-2 ACC), which extended its home winning streak to 15 games. Harvey Hale added 10 points for the Demon Deacons.
Ralph Mims netted 17 points in defeat for Florida State (12-7, 1-3), which got 13 points and 11 rebounds from Uche Echefu.
Florida State shot just 37 percent from the floor in the first half, but five three-pointers and a 6-of-6 effort from the foul line enabled the Seminoles to hold a 31-28 edge at intermission.
The Demons Deacons connected on 53.1 percent of their field goal attempts over the final 20 minutes, including a 5-of-7 showing from behind the arc. They also played outstanding defense in the second half, enabling them to cruise to victory.
Wake Forest turned the ball over only nine times in the clash and limited Florida State to 35.7 percent shooting from the floor in the game.
