Rosemont, IL (Sports Network) - Draelon Burns netted 20 points and the DePaul Blue Demons slipped past the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 75-73, in Big East play at Allstate Arena.
Mac Koshwal put forth 18 points and five boards for DePaul (8-9, 4-2 BE), which won for the second time in three games. Dar Tucker tallied 12 points in the victory, and Matija Poscic had 10 points and five boards.
J.R. Inman led Rutgers (8-11, 0-6) and all scorers with 22 points and eight rebounds. Anthony Farmer contributed 17 points, as the Knights suffered their sixth straight setback.
Rutgers shot a blistering 60.7 percent from the floor in the first half and it took a 42-35 advantage at the break.
In the second frame, DePaul hit on 51.7 percent of its field goal attempts and it used an 8-of-11 effort at the foul line to hold off Rutgers for the two- point victory.
The Knights shot 61.7 percent from the field for the game, but they committed 15 turnovers compared to just seven by the Demons.
