West Lafayette, IN (Sports Network) - Keaton Grant tallied a game-high 22 points and the Purdue Boilermakers posted a 74-67 triumph over the Illinois Fighting Illini in a Big Ten affair at Mackey Arena.
Grant finished the contest 4-of-6 from long distance and a perfect 8-of-8 at the foul line, as Purdue (13-5, 4-1 BigTen) improved to 10-1 at home. Nemanja Calasan turned in 17 points, while Robbie Hummel registered 13 points and four steals in the winning cause.
Brian Randle notched a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds for Illinois (9-10, 1-5), which lost for the sixth time in its past seven outings. Shaun Pruitt also scored 15 points and he grabbed nine rebounds, while Trent Meacham had 11 points in the setback.
Illinois shot 51.9 percent from the floor in the opening frame and it held a 35-27 lead at the half.
In the second period, Purdue made good on 4-of-7 attempts from downtown and 19- of-23 at the foul line, as it came from behind for the seven-point victory.
The Boilermakers forced the Illini into 21 turnovers in the game, while committing just 10 miscues themselves.
