NCAA Game Summary - Niagara at Canisius

Final Score: Niagara 62 - Canisius 70

Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Frank Turner scored 17 points, as Canisius beat Niagara for the first time in more than five years, with a 70-62 win at Koessler Athletic Center.

Bob Bevilacqua, Willie Hassell, and Tomas Vazquez-Simmons each scored 10 points for Canisius (3-14, 1-6 MAAC), which ended a nine-game losing streak against the Purple Eagles.

The Golden Griffins hadn't won in the series since November 30, 2002. Canisius also snapped a four-game losing skid.

Charron Fisher had a game-high 21 points for Niagara (11-5, 5-2), which has lost two of three after a six-game winning streak. Tyrone Lewis finished with 15 points, and Stanley Hodge had 13.

After shooting just 11-of-30 in the first half, the Golden Griffins came alive in the second to hit 13-of-23 field goals, and 13-of-21 from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Niagara shot 36.2 percent from the field for the game.

Niagara still holds an 87-73 advantage in the all-time series.
