Richmond, KY (Sports Network) - In Ohio Valley Conference play at McBrayer Arena, Eastern Kentucky came out strong and never looked back, as the Colonels easily took care of Jacksonville State, 71-55, behind Adam Leonard's 19 points.
The Colonels' (8-9, 5-4 OVC) Mike Rose posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Darnell Dialls showed off his all-around game by tallying nine points, nine assists and eight rebounds.
The Gamecocks (4-13, 2-7) remained winless on the road despite Nick Murphy's 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field. Jonathan Toles was the only other Gamecock in double digits, finishing with 11 points.
EKU drained five three-pointers in the first half and held JSU to 5-of-16 shooting from the field to take a commanding 34-14 halftime lead.
While the Gamecocks came out with a better shooting performance in the second half, Eastern Kentucky ended up with the 16-point win by hitting another four three-pointers and shooting 51.9 percent from the field.
JSU shot a respectable 46.7 percent from the field, but its 19 turnovers proved to be costly.
