Elon, NC (Sports Network) - Anthony Marshall scored a contest-best 17 points, as the George Southern Eagles defeated the Elon Phoenix, 67-57, in Southern Conference action at Alumni Gym.
Marshall connected on 3-of-7 shots from downtown, as Georgia Southern (12-5, 5-2 SoCon) won its third consecutive contest. Matthew Fields recorded a double- double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Louis Graham and Willie Powers chipped in with 11 points apiece.
Brett James headed the charge for Elon (7-10, 5-4) with 15 points and five boards. Ola Atoyebi contributed 13 points and three steals, as the Phoenix fell for the third time in four games.
Elon was held to a sub par 33.3 percent shooting effort from the floor in the first frame and it trailed at the break, 32-22.
In the second half, the Eagles made good on 45.5 percent of their shots from the floor and 13-of-18 at the foul line, as they took the 10-point triumph.
