Toledo, OH (Sports Network) - Tyrone Kent led four Toledo starters in double figures with 20 points, as the Rockets earned a 72-61 win over the Central Michigan Chippewas in Mid-American Conference action at Savage Hall.
Jonathan Amos tallied 19 points and seven rebounds for Toledo (5-10, 2-1 MAC), while Jerrah Young finished with 13 points and seven boards. Ridley Johnson rounded out the Rockets in double figures with 10 points.
Giordan Watson carried CMU (6-9, 1-2) with a game-high 23 points, although he did so on a rather pedestrian 8-of-21 shooting. Chris Kellerman came off the bench to score 10 points in the loss.
Both teams shot just 9-of-26 from the floor in the first half, but it was Toledo grabbing a 34-27 halftime advantage behind a 13-5 scoring edge at the foul line.
The charity stripe was again the difference in the second stanza, where the Rockets outscored the Chippewas, 16-4 to secure the double-digit win.
The Chippewas never quite found their shooting touch, as they shot just 37.3 percent for the game. They attempted 29 three-pointers, but knocked down just eight of those attempts.
