Evansville, IN (Sports Network) - Randal Falker logged 16 points and nine rebounds, as the Southern Illinois Salukis ran away from the Evansville Purple Aces, 80-67, in a Missouri Valley Conference showdown at Roberts Stadium.
Falker hit on 5-of-6 shots from the floor and he also dished out five assists, as SIU (8-9, 3-3 MVC) won its first true road game of the season. Bryan Mullins and Wesley Clemmons each scored 14 points in the win, and Tony Boyle had 10 points off the bench.
Shy Ely led the way for Evansville (5-11, 0-6) with a game-high 21 points and three assists. Pieter Van Tongeren posted 16 points and Jason Holsinger finished with 10, as the Aces dropped their sixth game in a row.
The Salukis shot an unconscious 77.3 percent from the floor in the opening frame, as they raced out to a 45-32 lead at the half.
In the second half, SIU made good on 4-of-9 shots from long range and 11-of-16 at the foul line to secure the 13-point victory.
For the game, the Salukis knocked down 58.7 percent of their shots from the field and that includes a 9-of-17 effort from beyond the arc.
