East Lansing, MI (Sports Network) - Drew Neitzel and Kalin Lucas scored 13 points apiece as No.11 Michigan State beat Ohio State 66-60 at Breslin Center.
Drew Naymick added a season-high 11 points and Goran Suton had nine rebounds for the Spartans (15-2, 3-1 Big Ten), who bounced back from a 43-36 loss at Iowa Saturday.
Jamar Butler had 21 points and seven assists for the Buckeyes (12-5, 3-2), who have lost two straight since an eight-game winning streak.
The young Buckeyes came out flat missing eight of their first nine shots from the field as the Spartans grabbed an early 11-3 lead with 13:35 left in the first half.
After Kosta Koufos ended a six-minute scoring drought for Ohio State, the Spartans again took control. Two Marquise Gray dunks followed by a Lucas fastbreak layup capped a 16-2 surge that put Michigan State ahead 27-7 with 7:10 left in the first half.
Ohio State, though, did rally with a 10-2 run to close the half and pull within 34-21 at the break.
The Buckeyes kept the momentum going early in the second half making 6 of their first 7 shots during a 13-3 run. Evan Turner's jumper cut Ohio State's deficit to 37-34 with 16:32 left to play.
Michigan State, however, was able to keep the Spartans at arms length the rest of the way. Raymor Morgan's three-point play with 3:09 to go gave the Spartans a 62-53 lead.
