Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Rodney Green tallied 17 points to lead the La Salle Explorers past the Penn Quakers, 62-58, in a Philadelphia Big 5 showdown at The Palestra.
Green finished the game 4-of-11 from the floor and 9-of-10 at the foul line, as La Salle (6-9) snapped a six-game losing streak against Penn. Kimmani Barrett came off the bench and turned in 15 points and nine rebounds, while Jerrell Williams chipped in with 10 points in the winning cause.
Tyler Bernardini led Penn (5-10) and all scorers with 20 points and six rebounds. Brian Grandieri posted 11 points and seven boards, as the Quakers fell to 4-5 at home.
The Explorers were held to a dismal 24.1 percent shooting effort from the floor in the firs half, and Penn carried a 29-24 lead to the break.
In the second stanza, La Salle converted 17-of-22 free-throw attempts, as it came from behind for the four-point victory.
The game was decided at the foul line, where the Explorers outscored the Quakers, 25-10, on the night.
