New Rochelle, NY (Sports Network) - Jason Thompson recorded a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 14 rebounds as the Rider Broncs posted a 72-64 win over the Iona Gaels in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at the Hynes Athletics Center.
Harris Mansell accounted for a game-high 18 points on 4-of-9 shooting behind the three-point line for the Broncs (10-6, 3-2 MAAC) as they won their second straight. Before fouling out Ryan Thompson contributed 14 points and five boards.
The Gaels (5-12, 1-4), losers of five in a row, were paced by Kyle Camper with 13 points, while Dexter Gray tacked on 12 points and nine rebounds in the setback.
Rider shot just 36.7 percent from the field in the first half, including 4- of-12 behind the three-point line, yet the team trailed by just a basket at the break, 33-31.
In the second half the Broncs made good on 50 percent of their field goal attempts and 13-of-18 at the free-throw line as they secured the eight-point triumph.
In a game that saw 10 ties and 12 lead changes, the Broncs survived 18-of-27 shooting at the charity stripe by converting 10-of-22 chances behind the three- point line on the night.
