Cullowhee, NC (Sports Network) - The Western Carolina Catamounts used 21 points from Brandon Giles to defeat the Furman Paladins 73-65 in Southern Conference play at the Ramsey Center.
WCU (5-10, 1-4 SoCon) avenged a 64-60 loss to Furman just a week ago. Negus McKenna and Jake Robinson came off the bench to contribute 16 and 15 points, respectively, as McKenna also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.
Justin Dehm proved to be the only Paladin (2-13, 1-5) scoring in double figures with 18 points, while George Brozos and Alex Opacic grabbed seven boards apiece.
Furman came storming out of the gate, shooting 55.6 percent from the field in the first half to lead 41-28 at the break.
The Paladins went ice cold in the second half, hitting only 6-of-23 attempts from the field and allowing the Catamounts to rally back for the eight-point win.
WCU halted a three-game losing streak thanks to nine second half three-pointers and great defense down the stretch.
