Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Othello Hunter and David Lighty each scored 14 points, as the Ohio State Buckeyes rolled to a 79-48 thrashing of the Iowa Hawkeyes in a Big Ten Conference clash.
Eric Wallace tallied 10 points and eight rebounds for the Buckeyes (12-3, 3-0 Big Ten), who improve to 3-0 in conference play for the first time since 1991. In all, 11 Buckeyes found their way into the scoring column.
Iowa (7-9, 0-3) guard Tony Freeman led all scorers with 21 points on 9-of-19 shooting. Cyrus Tate finished with 10 points, though the Hawkeyes have now lost five of their last six.
Iowa converted just six field goals in the first half (28.6-percent shooting), and the Buckeyes capitalized by jumping out to a commanding 45-17 halftime lead.
The Hawkeyes relied heavily on three-pointers in the second stanza, but they went just 2-of-18 on their attempts and were never able to cut down the deficit.
The Buckeyes committed just six turnovers in winning their eighth straight game. Dating back to last season, OSU has beaten 19 straight Big Ten opponents.
