East Lansing, MI (Sports Network) - Travis Walton scored each of his four points down the homestretch, lifting sixth-ranked Michigan State over Purdue, 78-75, at Breslin Center.

Kalin Lucas netted 16 points and Durrell Summers tallied 15 for the Spartans (14-1, 2-0 Big Ten), who have won 10 straight. Goran Suton posted a double- double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Chris Kramer had 19 points and Nemanja Calasan 18 for Purdue (10-5, 1-1), which had a three-game win streak halted.

The Spartans held a 39-30 lead at the break behind 12 points from Lucas and 10 from Summers. As a team, Michigan State shot 59 percent from the floor in the first half, compared to 29 percent for Purdue.

Purdue quickly cut into Michigan State's lead in the early going of the second half, however, and tied it at 43-43 on Calasan's lay-in with 15:49 to play.

The game remained tight the rest of the way, setting up the dramatic finish.

Purdue used an 8-0 burst down the stretch to turn a four-point deficit into a 68-64 advantage, capped by Kramer's triple with 5:31 to play.

The Spartans fought right back into it, and went ahead 74-73 following a free throw by Suton with 1:09 remaining.

Keaton Grant missed a three at the other end, leading to Walton's baseline jumper that made it a three-point game.

With a chance to tie, Grant shot an air ball to give the ball back to Michigan State.

Walton was fouled immediately following the rebound and iced the game with a pair of free throws.
