Winston-Salem, NC (Sports Network) - Jeff Teague scored a game-high 26 points, leading four players in double figures, as the Wake Forest Demon Deacons defeated BYU by a score of 79-62 in non-conference play at Lawrence Joel Coliseum.
James Johnson added 19 points for the Demon Deacons (11-3) as they won their sixth in a row. Before fouling out Chas McFarland contributed 11 points and seven rebounds and Ishmael Smith 10 points and seven boards as well.
The Cougars (11-4), losers of two of their last three, were paced by Jimmer Fredette and Lee Cummard with 15 points apiece.
Wake Forest came out firing in the first half, shooting not only 58.8 percent from the field, but also 4-of-8 beyond the arc, as it claimed a 49-32 edge at the break.
In the second half the Demon Deacons dipped to only 1-of-6 behind the three- point line, but with BYU converting only 3-of-12 out on the perimeter the home team was never challenged in the 17-point triumph.
In addition to shooting just 35.9 percent from the field, the Cougars were also guilty of 22 turnovers on the night.
