Greeley, CO (Sports Network) - Jabril Banks recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds in leading the Northern Colorado Bears to a 55-52 win over the Weber State Wildcats in Big Sky Conference play at Butler-Hancock Arena.
Also scoring in double figures for the Bears (7-8, 2-2 Big Sky) as they snapped a two-game slide, was Thanasi Panagiotakopoulos who dropped in a season-high 15 points on 4-of-7 shooting behind the three-point line.
The Wildcats (5-8, 0-1), losers of two of their last three outings, were paced by reserve Kellen McCoy who tallied 13 points in the setback.
Both teams shot below 35 percent from the field in the first half, but thanks to 11-of-12 at the free-throw line, the Bears remained within striking distance at the break with just a three-point deficit, 27-24.
In the second half Northern Colorado picked up the pace with a 6-of-10 effort behind the three-point line, one of those coming from Panagiotakopoulos with less than a minute to play to put the host team ahead by a point in what became a three-point triumph.
Overcoming 18 turnovers, the Bears outscored the visitors at the charity stripe, 20-6.
