Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - Gerald Brown registered game highs with 16 points and 11 rebounds as the Greyhounds of Loyola-Maryland defeated the Iona Gaels, 63-51, in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at Reitz Arena.
Brown, who shot just 5-of-15 from the field and also turned the ball over six times, logged four steals for the Greyhounds (6-8, 2-2 MAAC) as they snapped a three-game slide. Michael Tuck had a double-double of his own for the Greyhounds with 10 points and 10 boards, while Brian Rudolph came off the bench to offer up 12 points for the squad.
The Gaels (5-11, 1-3) were paced by Milan Prodanovic who tallied 10 points as the only player to score in double figures in the team's fourth straight setback.
Loyola came out slow in the first half, making just 7-of-24 shots from the floor and 1-of-10 beyond the arc, yet trailed by just three points at the break, 25-22.
In the second half the Greyhounds rebounded with a sizzling 60 percent effort from the floor and 15-of-20 at the charity stripe to secure the 12-point victory at home.
Loyola nearly cost itself a chance for a win with 26 turnovers and a 3-of-15 effort behind the three-point line on the afternoon.
