Syracuse, NY (Sports Network) - Paul Harris registered a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds as the Syracuse Orange posted an 89-77 win over the South Florida Bulls in Big East Conference action in the Carrier Dome.
Also recording a double-double for the Orange (12-3, 2-0 Big East) was Arinze Onuaku who dropped in 16 points and captured 12 boards as the squad won for the sixth straight time and the eighth in the last nine outings. Donte Greene just missed out on a double-double of his own as he scored 21 points and pulled down nine rebounds, followed by fellow starters Scoop Jardine and Jonny Flynn with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Jardine also handed out eight assists.
The Bulls (10-5, 1-1) were paced by Dominique Jones with a game-high 23 points on 9-of-22 shooting from the field. Chris Howard checked in with 19 points and Kentrell Gransberry 14 and a team-best 13 boards as USF had its three-game win streak snapped.
Although the squad made just 2-of-8 shots behind the three-point line in the first half, the Orange still finished the period at 55.9 percent from the floor overall, en route to a comfortable 47-33 lead at the break.
In the second half Syracuse cooled to 47.2 percent from the floor and made 7- of-12 at the charity stripe as it held on for the 12-point victory.
Although the Orange made only 14-of-24 at the charity stripe and 3-of-9 beyond the arc on the afternoon, the unit dominated the boards, 53-36, in the decision.
With the victory the Orange has now won all five meetings with South Florida in the series.
