Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - James Gist scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Maryland Terrapins to a 76-72 win over the Charlotte 49ers in a non-conference showdown at Bobcats Arena.
Greivis Vasquez also had a big day for the Terrapins (9-6) tallying 24 points and five assists, while Bambale Osby chipped in with 10 points in the win.
Lamont Mack led the way for Charlotte (8-5) scoring 18 points, while Leemire Goldwire added 13 points on a horrific 3-of-17 shooting from the floor and 2- of-12 effort beyond the arc.
Maryland got off to a strong start, shooting 13-of-28 from the floor in the first half, to take a 40-25 lead at the break.
The Terrapins continued to shoot well in the second stanza, knocking down 50 percent of their attempts from the field, to seal the four-point victory.
The Terps were aggressive at the defensive end of the floor, converting 15 Charlotte turnovers into 21 points.
