Youngstown, OH (Sports Network) - Byron Davis scored 19 points to lead the Youngstown State Penguins to a 71-61 win over the Loyola Chicago Ramblers in a Horizon League tilt at the Beeghly Center.
Davis received plenty of support as three other Penguins (6-7, 2-1 HL) scored in double figures. John Barber chipped in with 18 points, while Jack Liles and Vytas Sulskis added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Loyola (5-9, 1-3) was led by Tracy Robinson who scored 19 points. J.R. Blount and Justin Cerasoli also got involved scoring 16 and 14 points, respectively, while Andy Polka chipped in with eight points and 10 rebounds.
YSU caught fire in the first half, shooting 60 percent from the field to take a 42-24 lead at the break.
The Penguins cooled off considerably in the second stanza, shooting just 5- of-18 from the floor, but still managed to hang on for the 10-point victory.
Foul shooting proved to be the difference in the game, as YSU outscored Loyola 23-4 at the charity stripe.
