Chestnut Hill, MA (Sports Network) - Darnell Jackson scored 25 points and Darrell Arthur added 22, leading third-ranked Kansas to an 85-60 rout of Boston College at Conte Forum.
Brandon Rush contributed 12 points for the hot-shooting Jayhawks (14-0), who have opened a season with 14 straight wins for the sixth time in school history. Kansas was last 14-0 during the 2004-05 campaign.
The Jayhawks shot 53.2 percent led by Arthur's 10-for-12 effort and a 9-of-13 performance by Jackson. Jackson also had nine rebounds and Arthur seven for Kansas, which dominated the boards by a 39-24 margin.
"If our big guys play like that, our guards are good enough to put them in position to get easy baskets," said Kansas head coach Bill Self.
Rakim Sanders scored 21 points and Tyrese Rice finished with 20 for Boston College (10-3), which had a three-game winning streak stopped.
A tight first half evolved into a blowout with a late Kansas run.
Rice drilled a three-pointer to tie the game at 20-20 with just over nine minutes to play in the half, and the teams traded buckets before the Jayhawks exploded.
Arthur's dunk ignited a string of eight straight Kansas points, starting a 25-7 run to close the half. Sasha Kaun hit two free throws with just over 5 1/2 minutes left for a 30-22 edge and, after a bucket by Rice, Mario Chalmers drained back-to-back three-pointers for a 12-point cushion.
The Jayhawks built a 45-26 margin after a three-pointer by Rush with just 1:15 remaining in the half and they carried a 47-29 lead to the break.
Jackson scored 15 points, while Rush and Arthur added 10 apiece for Kansas in the opening 20 minutes. Rice had 18 of BC's 29 first-half points. The Jayhawks held a 20-9 edge on the boards and committed just two turnovers to BC's 10 in the first half.
Kansas rattled off eight of the first nine points in the second half to build a 55-30 bulge, but Boston College battled back and pulled within 61-47 with 10 1/2 minutes to play.
That was as close as the Eagles would get, as the Jayhawks followed with a 15-4 run to put it away. Jackson's dunk with just under 6 1/2 minutes left capped the surge and gave Kansas a comfortable 76-51 lead.
"We just didn't match their intensity from beginning to end," said Rice about Kansas. "That should be like a wake-up call for us."
