NCAA Game Summary - Canisius at Saint Peter's
Jersey City, NJ (Sports Network) - Nick Leon scored 19 points to lead the Saint Peter's Peacocks to a 65-54 victory over the Canisius Golden Griffs in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference battle at the Yanitelli Center.
Raul Orta added 11 points for St. Peter's (4-9, 1-2 MAAC), while Wesley Jenkins tallied 10 points to go along with seven rebounds.
Tomas Vazquez-Simmons netted 12 points and pulled down seven rebounds for Canisius (2-11, 0-3), while Pawel Malesa chipped in 11 points in the loss.
The Golden Griffs held the Peacocks to a pathetic 21.4 percent shooting effort from the field in the first half and went into the break with a commanding, 33-21 advantage.
Saint Peter's stormed back in the second stanza, netting 44.1 percent of its attempts from the floor, while also limiting Canisius to a meager 20.0 percent shooting effort. The tremendous turn around led to the 11-point victory for the Peacocks.
The Peacocks scored 22 points off 18 Canisius turnovers, while the Griffs posted just six points off 10 Saint Peter's miscues.
