South Bend, IN (Sports Network) - Luke Harangody poured in a career-high 29 points and ripped down 16 rebounds to lead the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to a 69-56 win over the West Virginia Mountaineers in a Big East Conference showdown at the Joyce Center.
The Irish (11-2, 1-0 BE) also received 12 points from Tory Jackson, while Rob Kurz added eight points and 13 rebounds. Notre Dame has now won nine games in a row.
The Mountaineers (10-3, 0-1) were paced by Alex Ruoff, who scored 18 points on 6-of-17 shooting from the floor. WVU has now dropped two straight outings following an eight-game winning streak.
Notre Dame shot the lights out in the first half, connecting on 15-of-24 shots from the floor to take a 37-28 lead at the break.
The Irish hit on 12-of-16 free-throw attempts in the second stanza, as it captured the 13-point victory.
Notre Dame dominated WVU on the glass, outrebounding the Mountaineers 46-33 in the win.
With the victory, Notre Dame improves to 9-0 at home this season, extending its current home winning streak to 29 games.
