Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Shan Foster scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed four rebounds as the 15th-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores defeated the Rice Owls, 76-58.
A.J. Ogilvy chipped in with 14 points and nine rebounds for the Commodores (14-0), who have six double-digit wins this season. Vanderbilt will host UMass on Saturday.
Paulius Packevicius dropped 17 points and grabbed seven boards for the Owls (3-9), who have lost two in a row and four of their last five contests.
Lawrence Ghoram added 15 points for Rice, who will play at Oklahoma on Saturday.
Vanderbilt opened the game on a 13-2 run, capped by an Alex Gordon three- pointer with just under five minutes gone in the first half.
The Owls showed heart and, behind six straight from Packevicius to end the half, Rice went into the locker room down 31-26.
Vanderbilt opened the second half on an 11-0 run, capped by a Foster jump shot almost two and a half minutes in that gave the Commodores a 42-26 lead. They were never threatened again.
Vanderbilt opened a 23-point lead on a Keegan Bell free throw with just over four minutes remaining.
