Charleston, IL (Sports Network) - Tyler Laser scored a game-high 27 points to lead the Eastern Illinois Panthers to an 83-80 overtime win over the Murray State Racers in Ohio Valley Conference action at Lantz Arena.
Julio Anthony also had a solid game for the Panthers (2-11, 1-4 OVC), posting 15 points. Romain Martin and Bobby Catchings each netted 10 points, as EIU snapped an 11-game losing streak.
The Racers (5-7, 2-3) were paced by Danero Thomas, who scored 18 points in the loss. Tony Easley and Tyler Holloway checked in with 15 points apiece, while Bruce Carter added 10 points and eight boards.
EIU shot 12-of-30 from the floor in the first half to take a 31-25 lead at the break.
MSU stormed back in the second stanza, shooting 48.3 percent from the field to send the game into overtime tied at 71-71.
The Panthers took control in the overtime period, shooting 8-of-10 from the foul line to secure the three-point win.
EIU relied heavily on its foul-shooting, connecting on 28-of-31 free-throw attempts on the night.
