Youngstown, OH (Sports Network) - Vytas Sulskis scored a career-high 26 points to lead the Youngstown State Penguins to an 80-68 triumph over the Illinois- Chicago Flames in a Horizon League battle at the Beeghly Center.
John Barber also had a big night for the Penguins (5-7, 1-1 HL), tallying 24 points and 15 rebounds in the win.
The Flames (8-6, 2-1) were led by Karl White Jr., who scored 21 points on 8- of-17 shooting from the floor. Josh Mayo turned in 17 points and five assists in the loss, while Scott Vandermeer had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
YSU shot a scorching 60.6 percent from the field in the first half to take a 53-42 lead at the break.
Despite shooting just 36.0 from the floor in the second stanza, the Penguins still managed to capture the 12-point win.
The Penguins forced the Flames into 17 turnovers, scoring 20 points off those miscues in the game.
