Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Pat Calathes registered a double-double with game highs of 20 points and 10 rebounds as the Saint Joseph's Hawks captured a 69-51 win over the Drexel Dragons in non-conference action at The Palestra.
Calathes, who shot 7-of-9 from the field for the Hawks (7-4) in their third straight win, also logged five assists, three blocked shots and a pair of steals on the evening. Ahmad Nivins chipped in 13 points, Tasheed Carr 12 and seven assists, while Rob Ferguson checked in with 11 points, eight boards and four rejections.
The Dragons (7-6) were paced by Randy Oveneke and Frank Elegar with 18 and 17 points, respectively, as the team had its two-game win streak snapped.
The Hawks made just 11 field goals in the first half, but four came from behind the three-point line, eventually leading to a 28-20 advantage at the break.
In the second half Saint Joseph's turned up the heat with 63.6 percent from the floor, compared to just 26.9 percent for Drexel in the 18-point decision.
Outscoring the Dragons in the paint, 34-14, the Hawks overcame 22 turnovers by limiting Drexel to a mere 2-of-20 behind the three-point line on the night.
