Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Shan Foster scored 17 points to lead the Vanderbilt Commodores to a 92-79 win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in a non-conference battle from Memorial Gym.
The Commodores (7-0) also received 16 points from A.J. Ogilvy, while Alan Metcalfe and Alex Gordon chipped in with 15 and 11 points, respectively.
The Yellow Jackets (3-4) were paced by Zack Peacock, who came off the bench to score 17 points. Lewis Clinch tallied 15 points for Georgia Tech, and Anthony Morrow posted 12 points in the loss.
Vanderbilt shot 65.4 percent from the floor in the first half to take a commanding 51-31 lead at the break.
The Commodores cooled down in the second stanza, shooting just 12-of-27 from the field, but they were able to convert 14-of-23 free throw attempts over the final 20 minutes en route to a 13-point victory.
Three-point shooting proved to be the difference in this contest, as the Commodores outscored Georgia Tech 30-12 from beyond the arc.
