Jacksonville State (1-1) at Georgia State (2-2)

GAME NOTES: Georgia State hits its home floor for the second time this week, as the Panthers are set to host the Jacksonville State Gamecocks in a non- conference tussle at the Sports Arena in Atlanta. Georgia State is fresh off an 82-64 victory over Southern Poly last Wednesday, a win that evened the Panthers' 2008-09 ledger at 2-2. As for the Gamecocks, they have been away from the hardwood since last Tuesday when they rebounded from an 89-76 loss to South Carolina with a 69-48 win over West Alabama. The victory marked the first for new head coach James Green. JSU leads the all-time series between these two programs by a narrow 10-9 margin.

The Gamecocks held West Alabama to a anemic 29.1 percent shooting effort on Tuesday, including a 2-of-16 showing from three-point range. JSU forced 25 turnovers and converted 10-of-25 attempts from downtown. Jeremy Bynum scored 17 points to lead the Gamecocks in the victory, and Jonathan Toles chipped in 13 points to go with five rebounds. Brandon Crawford leads the way for the club in the early going so far, averaging 17.0 ppg. Crawford is joined in double figures by Toles, who has contributed 10.5 ppg.

Trae Goldston led the way for GSU in Wednesday's win over Southern Poly, scoring 19 points off the bench for the Panthers. Joe Dukes and Leonard Mendez added 12 points apiece during the contest, with the latter registering his 1,000th career point. Chris Echols chipped in just eight points, but pulled down 12 rebounds. The Panthers dominated the boards to the tune of 48-30, and forced a game-high 13 turnovers in the win. Dukes has been responsible for 14.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, and leads the Panthers in scoring so far this year. Dukes has also passed out 27 assists to this point, also a team-high. Mendez represents the clubs second-leading scorer, tallying 12.5 ppg.

Give the advantage to Georgia State in this one, as the Panthers will have the hometown faithful behind them. The Gamecocks won't simply roll over, but GSU has a much more impressive lineup.
