Eastern Kentucky (1-1) at Texas Tech (3-0)

GAME NOTES: Coming off a record-breaking scoring performance, the Texas Tech Red Raiders now turn their attention to the Eastern Kentucky Colonels in regional action of the Legends Classic. Texas Tech is coming off a 167-115 victory over East Central (Divison II) on Thursday night. The 167 points scored is a school record for Texas Tech. The Red Raiders are off to a 3-0 start in their first full season under head coach Pat Knight, and this marks their fourth straight home game to start the campaign. EKU was last in action on Tuesday night when the team cruised to a 69-44 victory over Winston-Salem State. The Colonels opened their season with a 57-54 loss to Florida International last Friday. Coming off a 10-10 season in the Ohio Valley Conference, EKU is out to prove it belongs with the league's elite. EKU holds a 2-1 edge in the head-to-head series, with the Red Raiders' lone victory coming when the teams last met back in 1993.

EKU was entrenched in a 25-25 halftime tie with Winston-Salem State on Tuesday night. But the Colonels came out of the locker room and used a smothering defensive effort in the second half -- holding Winston-Salem State to 19 points -- to coast to the 24-point victory. Mike Rose shot 6-of-8 from beyond the arc and led EKU with 20 points. Papa Oppong scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Justin Stommes rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points. The Colonels' four-guard lineup was out-rebounded by a 35-26 margin, but they made up for it by holding Winston-Salem State to 31.9 percent shooting from the floor. Rose also scored a team-high 18 points in the opener against FIU, while Stommes finished with 16 points.

Ten players scored in double figures for Texas Tech in Thursday's track meet- paced game. Trevor Cook led the way with a career-high 20 points, as the Red Raiders had 77 points on the board at intermission. They knocked down 13 three-pointers for the game and shot 59.3 percent from the field overall. The Red Raiders pulled down a whopping 65 rebounds and also came away with 18 steals, as both keyed into the team's transition game. Tech held a decisive 37-6 edge in fast-break points, in addition to an 85-56 advantage in bench points. Through three games, six players are averaging double figures, led by Nick Okorie (7-of-12 from beyond the arc). John Roberson (14.7 ppg) leads the team with 20 assists, while Mike Singletary (13.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg) and Alan Voskuil (11.3 ppg, 7.0 rpg) are both getting done on the glass.

Obviously, Texas Tech isn't going to set a scoring record every time out. But the Red Raiders are playing at home and will once again look to get the transition game going early.
