Towson (6-10) at William & Mary (8-8)

GAME NOTES: The red-hot Tribe of William & Mary will try to continue their winning ways in league action, when they host the Towson Tigers this afternoon in a Colonial Athletic Association tilt at Kaplan Arena. The Tigers have struggled recently, losing three of their last four games, including a tough, 81-68 setback to UNC-Wilmington this past Wednesday. The loss dropped Towson to just 2-4 in CAA action and an even worse ledger of 1-7 on the road. As for the Tribe, they have taken the CAA by storm, racking up four consecutive league wins, with the most recent victory coming this past Wednesday against Northeastern (55-53). The current winning streak has pushed the Tribe's overall mark to an even 8-8 and also boosted the team's ledger at home to a solid 5-2. The Tribe lead the all-time series against Towson by a slim margin of 9-7. However, at home against the Tigers, William & Mary is an impressive 7-1.

The main problem the Tigers have dealt with throughout the season is a lack of production offensively. Towson heads into today's game averaging just 66.8 ppg, while shooting only 40.7 percent from the field. Junior Hairston has been the only real scoring option for Towson, as the forward is posting a double-double on the year, netting 14.1 ppg to go along with 10.8 rpg. Josh Thornton has only taken part in seven games this season, but when on the court, the guard has been impressive, shooting 43.6 percent from long range, while averaging 12.4 ppg. In the recent loss to UNCW, the Tigers shot 45.5 percent from the field and connected on 12 three-point attempts, but it still was not enough to slip past the Seahawks. Hairston was once again the team's go-to guy, as the forward paced the team with 17 points. Thornton and C.C. Williams both posted 16 points apiece, while Tony Durant came off the bench to contribute 13 points.

The recent win streak for the Tribe can be attributed to the team's outstanding defensive play, as the squad is held each of its last four opponents below 70 points. The last time William & Mary was on the court, the team grabbed a two- point win over Northeastern. The Tribe held the Huskies to just 53 points in the game, despite allowing them to shoot 48.8 percent. At the offensive end of the floor, the team was paced by Chris Darnell, who came off the bench to post 12 points. David Schneider, who is leading the team with 12.5 ppg, added 10 points, while Laimis Kisielius also posted 10 points in the win. Kisielius is the only other player averaging double figures for William & Mary, as the forward is netting 10.5 ppg. Throughout the season, the Tribe have not been overly impressive offensively, and come into this game averaging just 64.9 ppg, while shooting 42.6 percent.

The Tribe have earned their recent winning streak, playing hard-nosed defense against each opponent. That trend should continue today against Towson.
