Iona (10-17) at Canisius (4-21)

GAME NOTES: Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action will take place tonight when the Canisius Golden Griffins host the Iona Gaels at the Koessler Center. The Gaels head into this matchup in the midst of a small two-game losing skid. The last time Iona was on the court, the team fell to Niagara, 81-75. The setback dropped the Gaels' MAAC ledger to a mere 6-9 on the year. It has been a nightmare of a season for Canisius as the team has won only four games on the year. The Golden Griffins have dropped seven of their last eight contests, including four in a row. The most recent setback was a 75-68 loss to Saint Peter's, which dropped Canisius' league ledger to 2-13 on the year. The Gaels collected a 66-59 victory over the Golden Griffins earlier this season. The win for Iona evened the all-time series against Canisius at 24-24.

The Gaels currently have four players averaging double figures on the season, but the team is still only producing 65.7 ppg, while shooting 43.4 percent from the floor. Dexter Gray is leading the way with 11.0 ppg and is also collecting 5.1 rpg. Gary Springer has missed some time this season, but the forward is still netting 10.7 ppg, while also leading the team with 7.5 rpg. Devon Clarke and Milan Prodanovic have also made contributions on the season, chipping in 10.0 ppg apiece. The last time the Gaels were on the floor the team scored 75 points, but it was still not enough to slip past Niagara. In the loss, Iona shot 41.7 percent from the floor, but made only 4-of-24 attempts from behind the arc. Springer was one of the few bright spots in the loss, as the forward posted a double-double with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Clarke came off the bench to chip in 15 points for Iona, while Gary finished with only nine points.

The Golden Griffins have been dreadful in all facets of the game, and are producing just 61.3 ppg, while allowing 73.7 ppg. Offensively, Canisius is netting just 39.1 percent of its attempts from the field and is also committing a whopping 16.7 turnovers per matchup. Frank Turner is the only player netting double-figures for Canisius, as the guard is posting 12.7 ppg to go along with a team-high 108 assists. In the team's recent seven-point loss to Saint Peter's, the Golden Griffins shot a meager 34.9 percent from the floor and made just 8-of-29 three-point attempts. Greg Logins led the way with 15 points, while Rishawn Johnson came off the bench to contribute 13 points. As for Turner, he posted 12 points and six assists, but also committed a whopping eight turnovers.

It has been an extremely tough season for Canisius, and unfortunately it won't get much better this evening.
