GAME NOTES: The Yale Bulldogs shoot for their second three-game win streak of the season as they visit the Princeton Tigers for an Ivy League tussle tonight at Jadwin Gym. Last Saturday, the Bulldogs completely dominated Dartmouth in a 97-58 decision at home, pushing the team to an even 3-3 in conference and 7-4 at home. However, road games have been a different story for Yale this year, with the team winning just twice in nine opportunities. As for the Tigers, they were in action on Tuesday night versus arch rival Penn at The Palestra, a meeting that resulted in a 70-65 setback for the visitors. The defeat was the third in a row for Princeton, which is now 2-3 in league play as a result. With respect to the all-time series between these two schools on the hardwood, Princeton holds a commanding 138-78 advantage dating back to 1902, but the Bulldogs have won two in a row over the Tigers, sweeping both contests a season ago.

The Bulldogs put a total of 14 players out on the floor last weekend as they crushed Dartmouth at home, and all but one of them landed in the scoring column. Matt Kyle tallied a team-high 19 points on 9-of-10 from the field in a mere 16 minutes, followed by Eric Flato and Caleb Holmes with 12 and 10 points, respectively, for a unit that shot an incredible 63.8 percent from the field and an even more impressive 11-of-17 behind the three-point line. Oddly enough, even after the offensive explosion, Yale is still scoring less than 70 ppg this season, which leaves the group trailing opponents by fractions of a point overall through 20 games. Flato leads the group with 12.5 ppg, despite shooting just 38.7 percent from the floor, followed by Caleb Holmes and his 10.4 ppg.

The Tigers certainly played well enough to win on Tuesday night versus Penn in Philadelphia, but the visitors had the opportunity taken away late in the contest on some questionable calls that resulted in the Quakers making crucial free throws in the waning moments of a five-point decision. Zach Finley finished with a team-best 15 points before fouling out on a technical, Kevin Steuerer added 13 points, while Lincoln Gunn and Noah Savage chipped in 12 apiece, with the latter also picking up a cheap foul down the stretch. Gunn, who leads the team with 56 assists over 20 contests, also paces the squad in scoring with 10.6 ppg, followed by Finley and his 10.5 ppg. But, while the big man is leading the program with five rebounds per contest, his presence on the floor in critical situations is hampered by a mere 45.2 percent shooting at the free-throw line. As a team, the Tigers are posting a mere 56.7 ppg, but allowing just 63 ppg to keep things interesting.

The Tigers took themselves out of the running against Penn on Tuesday night, something they should learn from moving forward. However, the lesson may not mean much tonight considering how potent the Yale offense can be a times.
