Western Carolina (7-16) at The Citadel (5-18)

GAME NOTES: The Western Carolina Catamounts continue their three-game road swing tonight, as they take on The Citadel Bulldogs in Southern Conference play at McAlister Field House. The Catamounts kicked off their road swing on a down note, dropping a 72-63 decision at Georgia Southern a week ago. It was the 10th road loss in as many tries for WCU, which dropped to 7-16 overall and 3-10 in conference play. The Catamounts will bring their road trip to an end against the College of Charleston on Saturday. As for The Citadel, its dismal campaign continued with a 65-51 setback at Elon on Monday. The loss capped a four-game road swing, as the team suffered its 12 consecutive defeat and remained winless in league play at 0-14. The Bulldogs, who have not won a game since posting a 71-63 victory over Cornell-Iowa College back on December 31st, now sit at just 5-18 overall. Tonight's contest marks the 54th all-time meeting between WCU and The Citadel, with the Bulldogs holding a 28-25 edge in the head-to-head series.

The Catamounts are being outscored by 6.5 ppg this season, as they are shooting just 40.5 percent from the field compared to 45.6 percent by their opponents. Brandon Giles is currently the only player on the roster averaging in double figures, netting 15.5 ppg on the strength of 42.3 percent shooting from three-point land. In the team's last game, Giles turned in a tremendous effort of 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists, but it went to waste in a 72-63 setback at Georgia Southern. WCU knocked down 48.9 percent of its attempts from the floor and 10-of-20 from beyond the arc, but it committed a whopping 24 turnovers and that was the team's downfall.

The Bulldogs shot a lackluster 37.0 percent from the field and they were outscored at the foul line, 10-3, in a loss at Elon on Monday. The Citadel was also dominated on the boards, 38-26, in the setback. Austin Dahn paced the team with 14 points, while Cameron Wells notched a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. For the season, Wells has just about done it all for The Citadel, leading the team in scoring (13.9 ppg), rebounding (4.7 rpg), assists (3.8 apg) and even steals (37). Dahn chips in with 11.7 ppg for the Bulldogs, who are averaging just 64.2 ppg and giving up 74.4 ppg.

WCU has yet to win on the road this season, so this is good chance for The Citadel to put an end to its losing ways. If the Bulldogs can find success from long distance, look for them to finally post their first league win tonight.
