The Citadel (5-17) at Elon (8-15)

GAME NOTES: Southern Conference action will take place this evening when the Elon Phoenix host the Citadel Bulldogs at Alumni Gym. It has been a tough season for the Bulldogs, as the team has dropped 17 of its 22 contests. The Citadel head into this contest in the midst of an 11-game losing skid, which includes a heartbreaking 75-71 overtime loss to Appalachian State this past Saturday. The loss left the Bulldogs winless in conference action, as the team is now 0-13 in SoCon action. As for the Phoenix, they snapped a six-game losing skid this past weekend with a thrilling, 70-67 overtime victory over Wofford. The win pushed Elon's league mark to a mere 6-9 on the year. The Phoenix are just 8-15 on the year, but at home the team has a mediocre 5-4 record. In terms of the all-time series, the Phoenix have dominated the Bulldogs, winning six of the eight meetings, including a 72-63 victory earlier this season.

The Bulldogs' play offensively has been terrible throughout most of the season, as the team is netting just 64.8 ppg, while shooting a mere 41.2 percent from the floor. Cameron Wells has been the main source of production for the Citadel, as the guard is netting 13.9 ppg to go along with 4.5 rpg and a team- high 81 assists. Austin Dahn is the only other player posting double figures and comes into this game posting 11.6 ppg. The last time the Bulldogs were on the court, the team scored 71 points, but was still unable to grab a victory, as the team fell to Appalachian State by a four-point margin in overtime. Wells led the way in the loss with 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Dahn and Zach Urbanus posted 16 points apiece, while Tyrell McDowell tallied 10 points.

Much like their counterpart, the Phoenix have had problems finding consistency on offense, and come into tonight averaging a meager 62.3 ppg, while shooting 42.9 percent from the floor. Ola Atoyebi is currently pacing the team with 13.4 ppg and 6.3 rpg. Brett James is the only other player producing double figures for Elon, as the guard is contributing 12.2 ppg. The last time the Phoenix were on the floor the team posted a three-point win over Wofford. In the victory, the Phoenix shot 42.9 percent from the floor and committed just eight turnovers. James poured in 25 points, while Adam Constantine and T.J. Douglas both chipped in 11 points apiece. As for Atoyebi, he posted just seven points on a 2-of-6 clip from the field.

The Phoenix are coming off a huge win and should continue their winning ways against a very weak Citadel squad.
