William & Mary (13-9) at Northeastern (10-12)

GAME NOTES: Continuing their quest for the top spot in the Colonial Athletic Association standings, the Tribe of William & Mary set out to challenge the Northeastern Huskies in league action this afternoon in Boston. On Wednesday night, the Tribe dismissed Hofstra at home by a score of 74-62, marking the team's third straight win and ninth in 10 opportunities. The triumph also moved W&M closer to the top of the CAA standings with a record of 9-3, compared to Northeastern which enters the weekend with a split of 12 league games. Also in action three nights ago, the Huskies took care of Old Dominion in this building with a 67-60 decision. The win was the third in a row for Northeastern, which has a mark of 5-2 in Matthews Arena in 2007-08. The Tribe slipped by the Huskies in the first meeting of the season last month by a score of 55-53 at Kaplan Arena. As a result, W&M now clings to a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series.

The Tribe went from shooting 50 percent from the field in the first half on Wednesday night to 57.1 percent in the second half, leaving no doubt as the hosts picked up the victory against Hofstra. Nathan Mann scored a season-high 22 points on 5-of-7 shooting from three-point range, followed by Laimis Kisielius and Danny Sumner with 13 and 12 points, respectively, the former handing out a team-best seven assists and capturing five steals as well. Kisielius is one of three players scoring in double figures at the moment for the program with his team-high 12.3 ppg, although he is producing such numbers while shooting just 40.5 percent from the field. Then again, David Schneider (11.0 ppg) and Mann (10.2 ppg) are both having their issues from the floor at just 35.2 and 41.5 percent, respectively, at the moment. As a unit, the Tribe has gotten by with 43.4 percent accuracy from the field, mainly because the defense has managed to limit opponents to just 64 ppg.

In a game that saw an incredible 23 lead changes, Northeastern squeezed out a win versus the Monarchs earlier this week. Luckily for the home team, 23.8 percent shooting from the field in the second half didn't kill them and 20- of-22 at the free-throw line saved the day. In fact, the Huskies outscored ODU at the charity stripe 24-5 to make up for just 5-of-18 beyond the arc. Matt Janning tossed in 20 points, Manny Adako had 16 and eight boards, followed by Chaisson Allen with 10 points and seven rebounds. Amazingly, the Huskies have had four players start every game this season, Janning being one of them with his team-best 16.4 ppg, followed by Nkem Ojougboh and Adako with 11.3 and 11.0 ppg, respectively. Although just a 37.6 percent shooting from the field who has made a mere 9-of-48 beyond the arc, Allen (9.4 ppg) has made himself available in every capacity for the Huskies, going from 5.3 rpg, to almost four assists and better than two steals per contest.

Northeastern hasn't spent much time at home this season, so when the squad gets back to Boston there is certainly a level of excitement in the air. However, the Huskies have to keep their heads against William & Mary or the visitors just might steal a win.
