Boston College (12-9) at (2) Duke (20-1)

GAME NOTES: Winners of 10 straight games, the second-ranked Duke Blue Devils continue their quest for an ACC regular season title, as they welcome the Boston College Eagles to Durham, for a league affair at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Blue Devils took a huge step toward that conference crown with this week's 89-78 win over third-ranked North Carolina in Chapel Hill. With the victory, Duke moved to 20-1 on the year and 8-0 in the ACC. The Eagles have struggled in league play, winning just three of their first eight conference matchups. The real problems have surfaced in the last couple of weeks, with BC dropping five straight games. The woes continued on Wednesday with a 70-65 loss to Maryland in Chestnut Hill. The Blue Devils have won eight of the nine meetings with the Eagles, including seven in a row entering this contest.

Boston College has done a decent job at the offensive end this season, averaging 72.3 ppg, on .457 shooting. However, the team has really had a problem taking care of the basketball, averaging 15 turnovers per game. Junior Tyrese Rice is one of the conference's premier scorers and distributors, averaging 19.5 points and 5.0 assists per game. However, his attributes are tempered by a team-high 68 turnovers thus far. Freshman Rakim Sanders (12.3 ppg) and sophomore Shamari Spears (10.6 ppg, team-high 6.9 rpg) have been solid in the frontcourt. In the loss to Maryland this week, senior John Oates did his best to earn a win, hitting all eight of his shots, en route to a 21-point effort. Rice added 15 points and doled out seven assists.

Freshman Kyle Singler shined on the big stage at the Smith Center this week, as he posted his third double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. He was one of six players to finish in double figures against the Tar Heels, as Duke shot 50 percent from the floor in the second half to put the game away. Greg Paulus led the offensive charge with 18 points. Jon Scheyer came off the bench with 17 points, while DeMarcus Nelson, Gerald Henderson and Lance Thomas chipped in 13, 12 and 10 points, respectively. The Blue Devils struggled in terms of scoring last season, but that problem has been solved this year, with Duke averaging a robust 85.9 ppg. This is a balanced attack with five players currently boasting double digits in scoring. Nelson is the team's top option at 15.1 ppg. Henderson and Singler aren't far behind at 13.4 and 13.3 ppg, respectively. Scheyer (10.8 ppg) has been a spark off the bench and one of the top reserves in the ACC. Paulus has proved himself as both a scorer (10.6 ppg) and solid court general (team-high 73 assists).

Boston College is looking for some consistency, but unfortunately for the Eagles, they probably aren't going to get it done in Durham. There is always a chance for a letdown following a win over North Carolina, but Coach K will get the Blue Devils ready for the stretch run.
