GAME NOTES: The Fairfield Stags will look to get over .500 in league play tonight when they take on the Manhattan Jaspers in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tilt at the Draddy Gym. The Stags are coming off an impressive, 76-72 victory over Niagara this past Sunday. The win snapped a two-game losing skid for Fairfield, and lifted the team's league mark to 6-6 on the year. Due to the terrible slide, the team is an atrocious 2-10 in league action. Manhattan has also had trouble on its home floor, posting a 3-6 mark at Draddy Gym. However, the Jaspers have won four straight in this series, opening up a 10-game lead overall (43-33).
The Stags' performance offensively has been inconsistent at best, as the team is producing just 63.7 ppg, while shooting a mere 41.7 percent from the floor. Jonathan Han is the only player netting double figures for Fairfield, as the guard is posting 11.1 ppg to go along with a team-high 134 assists. The last time Fairfield was on the court, the team erupted offensively, defeating Niagara by a 76-72 margin. The Stags shot 47.1 percent from the field in the win, and also made 20-of-23 attempts from the foul line. Han led the way with 16 points and nine assists, while Herbie Allen contributed 15 points. Anthony Johnson and Yorel Hawkins both chipped in 10 points apiece in the win.
The Jaspers have also been inconsistent offensively, as the team is netting just 68.2 ppg, while shooting a mediocre 42.5 percent from the floor. Antoine Pearson is currently leading the team with 11.9 ppg and 50 assists, but the guard is also pacing the team with 65 turnovers. Devon Austin is the only other player netting double-figures for Manhattan, and comes into this game with 10.5 ppg. The last time Manhattan was on the floor, the team suffered a 10-point loss to Saint Peter's. In the setback, the Jaspers only shot 40.0 percent from the floor and made just 15-of-25 free throw attempts.
