Wright State (15-6) at Cleveland State (14-9)

GAME NOTES: The Raiders of Wright State head into the Wolstein Center playing their best basketball of the season, and the team will look to continue its winning ways this evening in a Horizon League showdown with the Cleveland State Vikings. The Raiders stepped out of conference action this past Monday and grabbed a convincing, 58-42 victory over Presbyterian. It was the sixth consecutive victory for WSU, which is currently a solid 7-4 in league action. As for the Vikings, they are also 7-4 in Horizon League play, but the team is headed in the wrong direction. CSU opened conference play with seven straight wins, but since then the Vikings have lost their last four league matchups, including a rough, 65-53 loss to Loyola this past weekend. Cleveland State is 14-9 on the season, but at home the squad has played much better, posting an 8-2 ledger. The last time Wright State suffered a loss was a few weeks ago when the team fell to this Cleveland State squad. Despite the loss, the Raiders still hold a slim 24-23 edge in the all-time series.

The Raiders have done a terrific job defensively this season, and the team's current winning streak is largely due to its play at that end of the floor. On the year, Wright State is limiting the opposition to just 62.4 ppg. The last time the Raiders took the floor the team continued its tenacious play, holding Presbyterian to just 42 points. In the 16-point win, the Raiders held Presbyterian to 36.6 percent shooting from the floor and just 4-of-18 from behind the arc. At the other end of the floor the team was led by Vaughn Duggins and Todd Brown, who both scored 12 points apiece. Duggins and Brown have been the top two options for Wright State, and come into this game netting 14.6 and 13.9 ppg, respectively. As a whole, Wright State is shooting a mediocre 45.1 percent, but is only averaging 65.0 ppg.

During the Vikings' current losing skid, the team has struggled tremendously on offense. In the latest loss, CSU scored only 53 points against Loyola. The Vikings shot 43.9 percent from the field, but made just 3-of-13 three-point attempts and committed 18 turnovers. J'Nathan Bullock was the only player in double figures for CSU, as the forward posted 16 points. Cedric Jackson chipped in nine points and dished out six assists, but also committed seven turnovers. Jackson might have struggled against Loyola, but the guard is clearly the top player for CSU, posting team-highs in scoring (14.4 ppg), assists (111) and steaks (60). As for Bullock, he is the only other player netting double figures, and comes into this game with 13.4 ppg. Cleveland State as a whole, is netting a mediocre 69.0 ppg on the season.

Wright State has done a tremendous job defensively, and should continue to play well at that end of the floor. Considering how poorly the Vikings have played, the Raiders should be able to avenged their loss to CSU from earlier this season.
